Keith Dewhurst has written seventeen stage plays of which LUGGAGE, LARK RISE, THE WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN, CANDELFORD, DON QUIXOTE (starring Paul Scofield) and BLACK SNOW were premiered by The National Theatre, and PIRATES and BRECHT IN '26 by the English Stage Company at the Royal Court.

Of more than twenty TV plays LLOYD GEORGE starred Anthony Hopkins and LAST BUS won the Japan Prize for Educational Television. Keith Dewhurst was one of the original Z-CARS writing team and contributed episodes to many other series, including the BBC/Time Life CHURCHILL'S PEOPLE, the BBC/Reader's Digest FALL OF EAGLES, twenty six episodes of Richmal Crompton's JUST WILLIAM and two two-hour VAN DER VALK films for Elmgate Productions. In 1998 he co-wrote the screenplay of LAND GIRLS with David Leland who also directed the film.

He has been a yarn tester in a cotton mill, a sports journalist, a columnist for The Guardian, a TV presenter, Writer in residence of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, the last rewrite man on Franco Zeffirelli's JESUS OF NAZARETH, a member of the Production Board of The British Film Institute, and a script consultant for HBO.

IMPOSSIBLE PLAYS, a history of the Cottesloe Company at the National Theatre co-written with Jack Shepherd has been commissioned by Oberon Books. Having worked closely with Shapeshifter on their revival of LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD, he has now created KING ARTHUR especially for the company.
